App Overview

How The Grinch Stole Christmas App How The Grinch Stole Christmas! is now an interactive story app full of fantastic features and customizations. This sentimental classic brings back so many memories. Stumbling over words like “Slither, “Who-hash”, or “Roast Beast” has helped us all discover the true meaning of Christmas. It is exciting to share this great story with my kids and I love having it on the i-Pad. This great story app can be read, recorded, and personalized to fit the readers needs. It was created by Oceanhouse Media. They have created many other popular book series apps including: the Dr. Seuss series, The Berenstain Bears, Elmer, and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. App Features

Dr. Seuss App Vocabulary FeatureTheir are a lot of great features in this app that set it apart from other book apps. The first to mention would be the vocabulary feature. When the user clicks on an object, the word pops onto the screen and an audio prompt will tell the child what the item is. It’s a great way for a child to label items during the Christmas season and identify new words. The highlighted narration is another great way to encourage reading and literacy skills. The child is able to follow along because each word is highlighted as it is read.

One thing that makes this story app unique is the ability to record your own audio for the story. You can also share it with others by email. This is a fantastic feature for parents or grandparents that are far away but want to send their kids or grandkids something special. Imagine the surprise when they get to hear your voice telling the story of How The Grinch Stole Christmas! Another important feature that is the ability to lock your child into the app using the Parental Controls.

Read How The Grinch Stole Christmas on the IpadWhen you visit the app’s main menu, you will see a lot of options available. You can choose “Read to Me”, “Auto Play”, and “Read it Myself”. The “Auto Play” will read the story to the child and turn the pages for them. You can also visit the bookshelf which leads you to other Dr. Seuss app books available for purchase. If you have questions or need support, you can also select the “Info” tab and find the answers. The “Read to Me” option will provide the audio for the story but will wait for the child to swipe and turn the page. At any point during the story, you can click the blue arrow on the bottom left corner to record your voice, turn on/off audio, return to the main menu, or jump to a certain page in the story.

What’s Great About This App

Read How The Grinch Stole Christmas on the IPadI love this Christmas app and would recommend it to families of young children between the ages of 2-8 years of age. The music and sound effects are perfect and can be adjusted in the settings for children who might be overwhelmed by loud or different noises. The illustrations are the same as the classic Dr. Seuss Books in that they are mostly monochromatic and very bold. The recording feature is probably my favorite. The ability to narrate the story for your own child is really cool. I also love the ability to label words by clicking on items within the story. My son was constantly clicking on every item he could see and we didn’t find anything within the story that wasn’t labeled. This great app will come without boxes or bags, and definitely requires an iPhone or ipad but will with no doubt spread holiday cheer.
